Abdul Razzaq baffled at Ahmed Shehzad’s exclusion from Pakistan team

Pakistan’s cricket team is not going through a great phase. They are struggling in every format, but the one particular format which will bother the green shirts the most is the T20Is. In the nine matches they played last year, Pakistan lost eight of those. Hence, it is quite obvious that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is making a lot of changes in the side, and giving many youngsters a chance. However, the exclusion of Ahmed Shehzad has baffled many.

The series will start off with the shortest format of the game, and the team for that has already been declared. To the surprise of many, some very reputed names like Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Irfan, and Fakhar Zaman are missing. While those are still understandable, the reason behind Shehzad’s exclusion is not clear to anyone.a

He wrote “It’s very disappointing to hear that @iamAhmadshahzad was not picked again for the national squad for the tour against BD. He has a good reputation against BD every time he plays against them so I think that such a talented player who is performing in domestic cricket.”

Razzaq not the only one

Apparently, Abdul Razzaq is not the only one who took to Twitter to question PCB’s team selection. Former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen also raised the question, for Shehzad had a wonderful Pakistan Super League season last year. In 8 matches, he scored 311 runs at an average of over 50.

Not happy with the team selection, Pietersen wrote “Just seen the team that PAKISTAN have picked to play Bangladesh. How on this planet can @iamahmadshazhad NOT be in that squad??? His PSL numbers and domestic number are so much better than the batter picked ahead of him! STUPID!”

Though Shehzad might have missed out on the bilateral series against the Bangla tigers, three young and exciting talents are set to wear the green shirt for the first time. Haris Rauf, Ahsan Ali and Amad Ali have been called up for the series.
