2,932 athletes selected for furthur training under Khelo India Scheme: Kiren Rijiju

In order to enhance the sporting talent in our country, 2932 players have been selected under Khelo India Scheme along with 10,248 athletes who are selected for other SAI Sporting schemes as they will be trained hard from sporting official so that they can excel at national as well as at International Level.

All these athletes have been selected based on the programme run by Sports Ministry known as ‘Talent search and development ‘ of the Khelo India Scheme. The selection of all athletes who will be trained is based on the competitive test which is designed on the specific pattern set by the Sports Ministry.

All the athletes who are selected will not only receive the knowledge about their individual games they will be also provided the support of modern sports science, and training from foreign experts in abroad as well so that they can understand the nuances of performing in International events.

These information was revealed by Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju in a written reply in Lok Sabha on Thursday.

A new budget worth 1,757.42 crore has been issued by sports Ministry in order to spend that amount in the development of players. It is a great initiative from Sports Ministry to pick talents from grassroot level and especially those players who come from economically deprived class.
