After playing some extraordinary knocks at the recently concluded ICC Under-19 ICC Cricket World Cup, skipper Yashasvi Jaiswal has continued his golden run in white-ball cricket by playing a swashbuckling inning in the U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy.
Playing his first game after the U-19 World Cup against Puducherry at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, the batting prodigy annihilated Puducherry’s bowling as he smashed a 185-run knock off just 243 deliveries. The batsman played some really amazing shots to start his knock and stitched a great 98-run partnership with Aman Khan, who also smashed a half-century in the first innings.
Puducherry staged a little comeback as they scalped the wicket of Arjun Tendulkar at the score of just 6. But Mumbai was back on track as Jaiswal continued the onslaught on the bowlers as he did now bow down to the bowling unit. Jaiswal got the much-needed assistance from Hardik Tamore as he played a great knock.
Both the batsmen were good at their timing and they got to achieve their milestones. Jaiswal smashed a century and the fans were quite elated to see the young man performing once again. Meanwhile, Tramore also completed his half-century to stitch 100+ run partnership. They did not stop there and just took Mumbai to a solid foundation.
The dynamic duo went on to accumulate 207 runs for the third wicket before Tamore got dismissed at the score of 84. The team’s score at that time was already 336 runs, taking Mumbai’s lead to 127.
Jaiswal racked up another daddy hundred in Mumbai’s latest fixture and amassed 185 off 243 balls in an innings which was laced with 19 fours and a six before getting dismissed in the 90th over of Mumbai inning.
Jaiswal was flabbergasted everyone by his exceptional form at the U19 World Cup in South Africa where India lost the final to Bangladesh. In the 6 World Cup innings, Jaiswal had 5 fifty-plus scores and a century. The youngster’s score in the U19 World Cup read: 88, 105*, 62, 57*, 29*, 59.
The batsman will be looking forward to making an impression at this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise of Rajasthan Royals picked him up at the price of Rs. 2.4 crores. It will be interesting to see if he gets a chance to show his capabilities in the world’s premier league.
The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will commence from March 29.
