Watch : This former Pakistani Opener offers support to Virat Kohli on "Failed Captain" remarks!

We must be thankful to the Royal Challengers Bangalore for mainly 2 things. First would be to nurture a young blooded Virat Kohli right from the beginning, especially when no one was willing to trust him even his state-based franchise Delhi Capitals and the second reason to thank them is to bring forth the RCB Podcast.

Very recently, one of the episodes of RCB Podcast season 2 was aired which featured star batter and former India & RCB Captain Virat Kohli. He dropped major bombshells in that particular session and disclosed many things that went under the radar or was absolutely untold.

Kohli stirred up a lot of controversy after he disclosed that he was considered as a “Failed Captain” after India under his captaincy reached Finals or semi-finals of major ICC events but ultimately did not win anything. Many fans and former cricketers have offered support and also criticized the 33-year-old.

One of the former cricketers who opened about the “Failed Captain” remarks were former Pakistan Opener and captain Salman Butt. The Left-handed opener who last appeared for Pakistan decades ago in 2010, offered support to Virat Kohli and also bashed those who have doubts regarding his efficiency.

He labelled Kohli’s critics as someone who do not understand the game of cricket. He stressed upon the fact that if you have a good winning percentage as Captain and have good understanding of tactics, it is unfair to claim a Captain is unsuccessful because they have no ICC trophies in their cabinet.

“People who do not understand the game of cricket very well judge a captain’s performance based on how he has fared in the Champions Trophy or the World Cup. However, if you have a good win percentage and are tactically very strong, but haven’t won a big tournament, it wouldn’t be fair to say that you haven’t been a good captain.”
