Rajasthan Royals batsman Riyan Parag has no shortage of style but when it comes to show some skills with the bat, Parag falls short. The Assam born batter was actually a part of the ICC U-19 team which won the World cup in 2018 under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw.

Riyan also comes through the same ranks as Shubman Gill and Shaw but his career in the IPL has not really bloomed. There is no doubt if he can hit the ball hard because he can but what he actually lacks is temperament and patience. His numbers in the Indian Premier League since debut is quite unbelievable.

In 51 matches, he has been not out on just 6 occasions and has scored only 561 runs. Parag’s best season came last year when he appeared in 17 matches including the final. He scored 183 runs which is not good enough for a player who featured in 17 IPL games.

And this season, the 23-year-old’s performance has went downwards. He has been able to amass only 39 runs in 4 matches this season. Although he had a chance to redeem himself during Rajasthan’s 3-wicket win against reigning champions Gujarat Titans last night.

As RR tried to chase down 178, Parag departed for just 5 runs off 7 by leg-spinner Rashid Khan. Following Parag’s dismissal, fans of Rajasthan were not letting Riyan get away with it just like that. Some fans on social media trolled him for his poor performance while some raised questions over his sheer over confidence.
