It was once again one of the best ODI openers in the world, Rohit Sharma, who took charge of India’s batting in the 2nd ODI. Rohit scored a splendid 159 as India crash the visitor’s by a margin of hundred and seven runs and they will now play the third and final ODI at the Barabati stadium on Sunday.
In the 2nd ODI Rohit added 227 runs with opening partner KL Rahul to lay the foundation for a big total, which was followed by capitalisation from Rishabh pant and Shreyas Iyer who scored some quick runs to help India post a total of 387 for 5. In reply, the visiting side started that chase in style but the middle order was largely disappointing and the team was soon all out on 280.
Rohit Sharma is one of the best ODI batsmen in the world right now and is in fact only a few runs short of becoming the highest run scorer in a single year. The record is currently held by Sri Lankan great Sanath Jayasuriya but Rohit is only seven runs short of bypassing that record to become the first batsman to score the most number of runs in a single calendar year.
The Mumbai boy has a lot of fan following in his City. A Video on the internet has emerged from the third t20 against West Indies which was played at Rohit’s home ground, the Wankhede stadium. In the video the fans are calling out about who is the don of Borivali, the suburban town in Mumbai from where Rohit hails. As soon as Rohit was seen coming down from the dressing room, fans started singing ‘borivali ka don kaun hai… Rohit Rohit.’
