Vidwath Kaverappa is a rising Indian medium fast bowler. This 24 year old Indian cricketer from Karnataka is predominantly a bowler and his bowling style is Right arm Medium fast, and he is a right-handed batter. Kaverappa is mainly known for playing domestic cricket from 2022 and Indian Premier League franchise cricket from the year 2023. In the domestic circuit, he has featured already for Karnataka state and will be part of Punjab Kings team in Indian Premier League.

Early Life & Journey:

Vidwath Kaverappa was born on 25 February, 1999. He was born and brought up in Coorg,

Karnataka, where cricket is not the biggest sport and hockey dominates their sports rouster. Similar to multiple international cricketers, Vidwath Kaverappa has featured in basketball and football at school level and represented the state team in handball nationals. Cricket continued to be a reserve sport in summer holidays.

By the age of ten, Vidwath Kaverappa had registered a serious interest in playing cricket, where he started out as an allrounder. His dad used to take him to summer camps to play cricket. He

moved to Bengaluru when he was in 11 th standard and came to know about the selection

trials in the state through his seniors at Presidency College. He said that he loved batting but

as he played more and more, bowling became his primary role. Soon, he moved to club cricket in Bengaluru and started training under Samuel Jayaraj Muthu. Vidwath Kaverappa said that all he is right now is because of Samuel Sir, who coached him since he was 18. The player is still grateful to the chances and coaching provided by Samuel Muthu.

On 03 March 2022, He made his First-Class debut against Puducherry at Chennai but he did

not get the chance to showcase his batting or bowling talents. But in the later First Class matches he could make a stand. He has got a chance to play only 10 FC matches so far, in which he has taken 34 wickets by conceding runs at an economy of 2.63.

On 12 November 2022, Vidwath Kaverappa made his List A debut against Meghalaya at Kolkata. He has played 8 List A matches so far, In which he has taken 17 wickets by giving runs at an economy of 3.53. On 11 October 2022, he made his T20s debut against Maharashtra at Mohali. He has completed 8 T20s matches, In which he has taken 18 wickets by giving runs at an economy of 6.36.

Considering his fine form in the domestic T20, Punjab Kings picked Vidwath Kaverappa for IPL season 2023. The team signed him at a base price of 20 lakhs. His dream to play in the IPL has come true. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, 2021-22 last November, Kaverappa did his best. In the match, between him and Vijaykumar Vyshak has been the most impressive. The pairing has claimed 21 of the team’s 34 wickets from six matches. Vidwath Kaverappa, who made his Karnataka senior-team debut in Ranji Trophy 2022, topped the bowling charts in his Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament on his debut. He was a vital cog in the Karnataka team setup. The right-arm pacer went on to pick up 13 wickets from six games at a terrific economy of 5.6, including a fifer against Jammu and Kashmir. The figures of 5 wickets for just 11 runs in that game is the best record held by any Karnataka bowler in domestic T20s. He leapfrogged the likes of Vinay Kumar, Srinath Aravind and Abhimanyu Mithun who led the Karnataka team’s bowling attack in the past.

In his last T20 match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament in the domestic circuit, between Punjab and Karnataka , November 01, 2022, Vidwath Kaverappa took three wickets and by giving runs at an economy of 11.00.
