In the process, Rohit Sharma scored his third consecutive century and fifth in this World Cup, breaking the record of most hundreds in a single World Cup edition. The record was earlier held by Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, who hit four centuries at the 2015 edition.

Kumar Sangakkara | 4 | 2015 |

With his 6th century in World Cups, Rohit also equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most hundred in World Cups and with potentially 2 games to go, seems to be in good stead to go past that too.

Rohit Sharma also became just the second Indian after Virat Kohli to hit three consecutive hundreds in ODIs. He also became the second player to score three consecutive hundreds at the World Cup. Kumar Sangakkara was the first when he did this in 2015 edition of the World Cup.
Rohit Sharma has been in sublime form and after Shikhar Dhawan’s departure, has taken the extra responsibility. He would yet again be the key figure for India if they are to win the World Cup.
