Sri Lanka Cricket donates LKR 25 Million for fighting the COVID-19 in the country

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Monday announced a sum amount of LKR 25 million to the Sri Lankan Government with the motive of helping them in tackling the Coronavirus outbreak in the country. The sum amount granted will be transferred to the Government immediately, as per the reports.

For tackling the ongoing pandemic, the Sri Lankan cricket Board has also taken various, assuring the government of full assistance in order to combat the ongoing crisis.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had already postponed all the domestic cricket tournaments until further information. They also instructed their staff and players to remain indoors during this time as a preventive measure to not let the virus spread among the people. The Board also said that the national players are also contributing from their end by requesting the fans to remain safe in order to tackle with the COVID-10 outbreak.

Sri Lankan President also showed gratitude towards the Sri Lanka Cricket as he took to his official twitter account and posted:

“Thank you to @OfficialSLC for the grant of 25 million lkr to assist the govt. in its battle against #COVID19. The support flowing in from all ends has been overwhelming. We also thank all the individual players who have come forward in offering support. #TogetherWeCan #COVID19SL”

The SLC has also commended the Government, health and other government officials, including the Police and the armed forces and all relevant parties engaged in doing its utmost best to help the nation recover from the ongoing health crisis. 

The SLC also appealed to their stakeholders, including their Member clubs, District and Provisional Associations to take all the precautionary measures to ensure their safety at this situation of crisis.
