Since the attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009, Pakistan has been striving for international teams to come into their country so that they can resume playing the game in their own backyard. Ten years after the grueling attack, the Islanders came back to play in Pakistan and people were hopeful that the game might return to the country really soon.

After Sri Lanka, it was Bangladesh that played the Men in Green in their home conditions in a three-match T20I series. And now it seems that one more team is gearing up to play in Pakistan. According to reports, South Africa is thinking of playing a short three-match T20 International series in the last week of March.pakistan

Proteas will be coming to India in March and plan to leave for Pakistan soon after they finish playing a bilateral ODI series against India, which is scheduled to end on March 18th. The report further states that some important members of Cricket South Africa (CSA) and a security delegation will be going to Pakistan in February to check how much security can be provided to the team if they tour Pakistan. If the preparations are found to be accurate, only then a decision will be taken.

The delegation headed by security expert Rory Steyn will prepare a report after reaching Pakistan and deliver the report to CSA so that a decision can be taken.south-africa

But the biggest finding in the report is that former skipper AB de Villiers might be called back into the side for the T20I series to give him some match practice before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, later this year.

South Africa last went to Pakistan in 2007. At that time, both the teams played a two-match Test series and a five-match ODI series across various cities.

The Proteas emerged victorious in Test series as well as in the ODI series.

In related news, South Africa will be coming to India for a three-match ODI series, starting from March 12. The first game will be played at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. Meanwhile, the Second and Third ODI will take place on March 15th and March 18th respectively.

The Rainbow Nation would look to turn their fortunes and end the dismal run that they have been experiencing in recent times.
