Rohit Sharma To Create History During Rajkot T20I

Rohit Sharma is playing the best cricket of his life at the moment. No matter who the opposition is, what the conditions and format are, he just piles on the runs.

Recently, Rohit Sharma has been in the news for resurrecting his test career. When he got the opportunity to open the batting in test matches, he grabbed it with both hands and with 3 hundreds in the 3 test matches against South Africa, he has now established himself as a regular member of the Indian test side too.

The 32-year-old already holds the record of most double centuries and most sixes hit by an Indian in the ODI format.

As far as T20I cricket is concerned, Rohit already holds the record of most international runs and most international centuries scored for India.

Now, the Nagpur born right-hander is on the verge of achieving another milestone in the second T20I against Bangladesh in Rajkot. As he takes the field in Rajkot, Rohit will become the first Indian player to play 100 T20 internationals.

The next in the list is MS Dhoni who has played 98 T20Is, but looking at his age, form and fitness, it is likely that Dhoni might never play for India again. However, he has not announced his retirement yet.

Rohit will be the second player in the world to play 100 T20Is. Before Rohit, the only player who crossed that mark was Shoaib Malik from Pakistan. Malik has so far represented Pakistan in 111 T20Is.

Rohit has scored 2452 runs in the T20Is in the 99 games he has played and looking at the ominous form the Hitman is in, he might become the first T20I player to cross 2500+ runs mark during the 2nd T20 against Bangladesh.

Although Rohit got out cheaply in the first T20I, India would be expecting a significant contribution from the swashbuckling opener in Rajkot.
