Ravi Shastri breaks silence on MS Dhoni’s future; talks about Dhoni’s World Cup selection

Where is MS Dhoni? Why is not playing international cricket? When is he going to retire? Will MS Dhoni play the 2020 T20 World Cup?

Ever since India lost the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup against New Zealand, a barrage of questions have been asked over MS Dhoni’s unavailability in international cricket.

The former Indian skipper has been on a sabbatical since India’s World Cup 2019 semi-final exit and is yet to announce his future plans in the limited-overs cricket.

Questions were being raised to BCCI President, Indian Cricket Team captain, and coach on the same only to get a diplomatic answer from all of them.

When asked the question directly to MS Dhoni, the CSK spinner just dismissed it by giving a date, making the fans wait till January.

ONLY A TERRIFIC IPL 2020 CAN GET MS DHONI A BERTH IN INDIA SQUAD FOR T20 WORLD CUP” – RAVI SHASTRI

Recently in an interview, Indian head coach Ravi Shastri gives another cue on Dhoni’s future revealing that MS Dhoni is no more an automatic selection in the Indian team and will have to produce something special in the IPL to get a place in the T20 World Cup side.

I have had a conversation with MS and that is between us. He has finished his Test career, he may soon end his ODI career. So, he will be left with T20, he will definitely play the IPL. One thing I know about Dhoni is that he will not impose himself on the team. But if he has a cracking IPL, well, then..”

Shastri statement clearly suggests that the team has perhaps moved on from the former skipper and only outstanding performances from here can get him back in the mix.

We will have to consider a person’s experience and form. They will bat in the number 5-6 position. If Dhoni plays well in IPL then he does put himself in contention
