The 2022-23 Ranji Trophy which is the 88th edition of the premier first class cricket of India has reached the Quarter-final stages with 8 teams battling it out for the ultimate prize. This tournament is one of India’s most important and historic tournament which has been taking place since 1934.

Bombay – present day Mumbai were the inaugural winners and have also won the most number of Ranji trophies in the history of the tournament. This season, 38 teams were divided into 5 groups – Elite A, B, C, D and the Plate group. After weeks of tussle only 8 teams remain and 4 will proceed to the next round.

Meanwhile, the first Quarter-final of Ranji Trophy 2022-23 between Jharkhand and Bengal saw the former team get bowled out for just 173 runs on Day 1 thanks to outstanding spells from Mukesh Kumar and Akash Deep as the duo counted for 7 wickets combined.

The only Jharkhand batter that got going was Kumar Suraj, who remained not out until the end and scored 89 out of the 173 runs. Bengal are currently batting with Abhimanyu Easwaran and Sudip Kumar Gharami on the crease. They are 92/1 and trail by 81 runs at the end of session 1.

Easwaran looks set in the crease as he has scored 52 runs off 95 balls and Sandip Gharami is on 37 off 67.
