Former West Indies great batsman Viv Richards has delivered his opinion on the recently concluded 3rd Test held between India and England where more than host victory pitch is discussed.
The penultimate game of the ongoing series was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium who was earlier named as Motera Stadium was hosting an international match after 2014.
The pitch has been discussed a lot as the match only ended in 2 days where several ex cricketers said that It is not good for the longest version of the game.
But as it was terrific performance by the spinners who clinched 28 out of 30 wickets and batsman struggled on the pitch due to lack of application.
Apart from batting debacle from both sides , India applied themselves well and emerged as a winner to take unassailable 2-1 lead in the series. The match was shortest since 1935.
Richards hits back at all the experts who criticized pitch where he added that if tourist had done their homework properly they would have easily played spinners well on these tracks.
“I’ve been asked questions recently about the Test match that was played in India… the second and third Test match against England.
“And I am a little confused about the question really because there seems to be a lot of moaning and groaning about the wicket that they were playing on. I just felt that the ones who are moaning, in my opinion, should realize that there are times that you’re going to get a seaming track, a ball that is basically jumping off a good length and everyone thinks that’s a problem for batters. There are times batters sometimes cope with that,” Richards said in a video posted on his Facebook page.
