Nitish Kumar Reddy inspiring journey: Father left his job to make his son’s career

Nitish Kumar Reddy… The player of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) who became the savior for his team against Punjab in the IPL match played in Mullanpur on 9 April. At a very crucial time, 20 year old Nitish played an inning of 64 runs in 37 balls for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He also took one wicket in bowling.

Nitish Reddy was signed by Sunrisers Hyderabad at his base price of Rs 20 lakh in the auction before the 2023 season. He made his IPL debut on 18 May 2023 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), where he gave 19 runs in two overs. In this match, Sunrisers Hyderabad had to face defeat by 8 wickets. Last season he played 2 matches for Hyderabad.

Nitish Reddy turned the match against Punjab Kings

When SRH fell at 27 runs for two wickets, Nitish came to the crease. After some time, SRH’s score became 64 runs for four wickets, on this score Rahul Tripathi was out. Then Heinrich Klaasen was out as the fifth wicket after 100 runs, but during this time Nitish remained aside. Later, Reddy along with Abdul Samad (25), Shahbaz Ahmed (14) took his team’s score to 182/9.

Born on 26 May 2003, Nitish was a big fan of Virat Kohli from the beginning. He has dominated the top order for Andhra Pradesh in his age group. Nitish had included his name in the record book of Vijay Merchant Trophy in the 2017-18 season. Actually, Nitish had scored 1,237 runs at a staggering average of 176.41, which is the highest run in the history of the tournament.

During this, he scored a triple century, two centuries, two half-centuries and 441 runs in 366 balls against Nagaland. Nitish met his batting idol Virat when he was selected as the ‘Best Cricketer in Under-16 Category’ by BCCI at the annual awards ceremony in 2018.

Nitish’s father said that Nitish’s career changed after meeting India’s leading all-rounder Hardik at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Mutyala said, 

‘During his U19 days at NCA, he got a chance to talk to Hardik Pandya. Since then he just wanted to become an all-rounder.
