Moeen Ali excited to play in Pakistan again

Moeen Ali

English cricketer and Multan Sultans’ all-rounder Moeen Ali is excited at the prospect of playing at Pakistan once again. The cricketer has a historical connection with Pakistan, as his grandfather and mother were born in the country. He has a rich heritage dating back for years in Pakistan. Coming back to the country and playing a match on its soil is thus a huge event for him.

England had played its last match in Pakistani soil in 2005-06, when the visiting country had lost the Test series 0-2 and the ODI series 2-3 to the hosts. Since that period, all matches hosted by Pakistan have been played in the United Arab Emirates, the adopted home ground of the Green Army.

Moeen Ali hopes that the PSL marks the return of cricket in Pakistan. He wants international teams to return to Pakistan, and that England and the Wales Cricket Board will mark the advent of this return. Dalitytimes.com.pk quoted Ali as saying, “Talks are underway for the England cricket team to visit Pakistan. At the moment, there are 10 English cricketers in Pakistan playing in the PSL, which shows that we [England] are interested in coming here and playing. If the England team comes to Pakistan, I will be a part of it.”

Ali also spoke about his excitement in being a part of the PSL and said that everyone is talking about the league. He said, “PSL is a great achievement for Pakistan. All the formats, ODIs, Tests, and other formats should return to the country. Pakistan is a wonderful country to play cricket in. To have the entire PSL in Pakistan is a huge achievement and I am glad to be a part of it.”

Ali looks forward to visiting Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, the birthplace of his mother. He shared that he will be visiting the land of his family for the first time in over fifteen years. He was excited to take up the offer of the Multan Sultans for this reason, and also because Mushtaq Ahmed and Andy Flower wanted him to play in the PSL.
