Former Australia captain Michael Clarke on Wednesday divorced his wife Kyly and the very next day, announced that he will be joining the rugby league legend Laurie Daley as a co-host of Sky Sports Radio’s ‘Big Sports Breakfast’ replacing Terry Kennedy.
Kyly, meanwhile, has come out in the open to talk about the much talked about the split. The 38-year-old former model told Daily Mail that she was doing fine after the divorce.
“Of course I am!” she said on being asked if she was okay after the divorce. The former first lady of Australian cricket also said that her daughter Kelsey Lee, was also doing “amazing”.
Michael Clarke made his debut for Australia in 2003 in a one day international. In 2007, he began a relationship with Lara Bingle after leaving his longtime partner of eight years and soon later also got engaged to her. In 2010 he returned home midway through cricket tour of New Zealand due to personal reasons. Two days later, news had it that he split with Bingle. It was then in 2012 when Michael married Kyly Boldy, whom he first met at Westfields Sports High School.
Clarke retired from cricket at the end of the 2015 Ashes series in the UK, which Australia lost and that same year, he and Kyly welcomed their daughter, Kelsey Lee. And now, in 2020, the couple have announced their separation after seven years of marriage
“After living apart for some time, we have made the difficult decision to separate as a couple, amicably,” the couple issued a joint statement to The Australian on Wednesday.
“With the greatest of respect for each other, we’ve come to the mutual conclusion that this is the best course for us to take while we are committed to co-parenting of our daughter.”
It is reported that the divorce is worth approximately USD 40 million.
