However, on Wednesday, one such incident again garnered the attention of Indian masses, not in international cricket, but in junior level cricket.

During a match between Meghalaya and Nagaland at the Assam Valley School ground in Tezpur, the off-spinner Nirdesh Baisoya claimed 10 wicket in an innings for his team Meghalaya in the U16 Vijay Merchant Trophy. Nirdesh grabbed those 10 wickets at the cost of 51 runs.

Who is Nirdesh Baisoya?

Nirdesh Baisoya was born in Meerut, West Uttar Pradesh. His father works in Noida authority, while his mother is a housewife.

Nirdesh, who hails from a middle-class family, was inclined towards cricket right from his very childhood, but steadily it grew into passion, the passion turned into obsession and the cricketer decided to convert that obsession into profession.

Two years ago, Nirdesh shifted to Meghalaya as a guest player. The youngster was hungry to make his presence felt in the domestic circuit and he eventually did so by claiming 10 wicket in an innings today.

Nirdesh’s take on his 10-wicket haul

Nirdesh explained that there was dampness in the pitch and the conditions were assisting the bowlers which he and his team successfully exploited.

“Earlier in the innings, the conditions were favouring the bowlers and it just turned out to be a lucky day for me. I am glad that my team supported me and we made the most of the first hour of play. Wicket mein thoda moisture tha, hum uska fayda uthaye (there was moisture and we took advantage)” Nirdesh said in an interview with Sportstar.
