Marcus Stoinis posts the highest individual score in BBL history

It was an amazing batting performance by Marcus Stoinis who posted the highest individual score by a batsman in BBL history. Playing for Melbourne Stars, Stoinis made 147 off 79 balls in the match played at Melbourne Cricket Ground, MCG on Sunday.

Sydney Sixers captain Daniel Hughes won the toss and decided to field first. Stoinis and Cartwright started slowly scoring just 46 runs in the first six overs. After the power play overs, Stars openers made the batting look easy.  Stoinis reached his fifty off 36 balls and made the batting look easy. After reaching his fifty, Stoinis showed his class and made his century off just 60 balls. He and Hilton Cartwright added 207 runs for the opening wicket in 19.1 overs. Stoinis remained not out on 147 off 79 balls which helped Melbourne Stars post a massive total of 219 for 1.

In reply, Sydney Sixers could only post 175 for 7 with contributions from Moises Henriques, Jordan Silk and Dwarshusis who made 42 off 17 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Despite Sixers’ efforts, Melbourne Stars won the match by 44 runs. Stoinis broke the record of Darcy Short who scored 122* off 68 for Hobart Hurricanes against Brisbane Heats in 2016/17 season.

Stoinis has been in superb form during the 2019/20 season of BBL so far. His form has helped Melbourne Stars to be in the top position of the points table. It was an amazing display by Stoinis who has shown tremendous skills that have helped Stars to continue his superb form. For his match-winning knock of 147, Stoinis was awarded the man of the match with ease.

During his 147 not out, Stoinis hit 13 fours and 8 sixes with a strike rate of 186.07. Stoinis has been picked by Delhi Capitals for the 2020 season. If he continues to be in this form, Capitals could win their maiden IPL title this year.

Stoinis has shown his credentials with the bat and created an impact for Melbourne Stars in BBL 9 so far.
