Kolkata Knight Riders 2021 Team Preview

  • Captain: Eoin Morgan
  • Home Ground: Eden Gardens Kolkata
  • Owner: Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla.

Having won the IPL twice under captain Gautam Gambhir, KKR struggled to win find their perfect balance and their desired captain in the 2020 season. Dinesh Kartik who started as the captain stepped down mid season to give the England National team’s captain Eoin Morgan in charge of the KKR’s captaincy. Things seemed to improve in terms of results for KKR and personal performance of Dinesh Kartik, but not to an extend which would see them reach the playoffs. Not being able to qualify for the playoffs even after buying one of the costliest players in the IPL, Pat Cummins, who failed to deliver to his potential, might be one of the worse seasons for KKR as they too are the favorites amongst the fans to reach the playoffs every season. KKR would be dying to bring back their fans to the Eden Gardens, one of the most iconic stadiums in the world, as even a 50% capacity could see 30,000 fans in the stadium which not most teams have even with 100% capacity.

KKR have one of the youngest squads in the whole of the IPL, with players like Nagarkoti, Mavi, Gill, Krishna all expected to step up in absent of their elder members. As with Mumbai Indians, KKR too have retained most of their players with only one big name not managing to have his name on the sheets, the Englishmen Tom Banton. Coming to the tournament he promised a lot and when given a chances, he failed to capitalize and impress the owners.
