IPL 2025: Debutant Priyansh Arya Arrives in Style for Punjab Kings
Indian Premier League, or IPL is a cricket league that is known to churn out hidden talent and undiscovered athletes, who possess abundant talent and just need an opportunity to explode.
Every season, a new face emerges who manages to capture the attention of spectators through his performance. With only matches hosted so far in the 18th edition, looks like a fresh name has made it to the headlines already.
Priyansh Arya, the player for Punjab Kings, made an electrifying IPL debut for his team against their match with the Gujarat Titans. The left-hander managed to dominate the powerplay overs and delivered when it mattered the most.

A rising star from Delhi, he had a dream run in domestic cricket, making him one of the most desirable candidates in the 2025 IPL auction. The southpaw was bought by Punjab Kings for INR 3.8 Cr in the mega auction.
The Delhi Premier League 2024 sealed the young player’s reputation as a ruthless hitter. He was the top scorer of the competition. With a strike rate of 198.69, he scored 608 runs in his 10 innings for his team, the South Delhi Superstarz.
Coach Ricky Ponting had high hopes from the 24-year-old batsman, even before the league began. “Priyansh Arya, I think, is a very special potential opening batsman for us going forward in the tournament. Depending on which way we go with our overseas make-up, he’s very exciting”.
Fearless could be the apt word to describe him – he attacked the bowlers from the outset, fully justifying the INR 3.8 crore investment the franchise has made in him. An alluring prospect indeed.

There was fearlessness in his technique, good wrist movement and a fine display of skill which reflected his confidence on his ability. Ravi Shastri rightly described them as ‘glorious and quality shots.’
A score of 47 off 23 deliveries surely announced his arrival on the big stage. A little too early to draw an inference on him but from the looks of it, he appears a potential contender for the emerging player of the season.
“I think for a guy to play like this on his debut game was very good. I think he played really well,” said GT’s Sai Kishore.
His 51-run partnership for the second wicket with the man in midas touch Shreyas Iyer set the platform for other batters to raise a formidable total of 243 for five. With dream start, Arya certainly has a long way to go ahead in his career.
