Former Indian legendary batter and 1982 World cup winner Sunil Gavaskar bantered Australian opener and Delhi Capitals Captain David Warner on the light of the former’s comments on his return to Feroz Shah Kotla (Arun Jaitley Stadium) for the first time in over a decade wearing Delhi Capitals’ threads.
Before Warner lifted the IPL trophy in 2016 as the Captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad and reached another final 2 years later, the Aussie pocket size dynamite used to be a key batter for Delhi Daredevils before the franchise released him in 2014.

Delhi struggled to get going after Warner’s departure but the Aussie shone with SRH. Last year, Delhi Capitals bought Warner back last year and this year he is announced the captain due to Rishabh Pant’s absence following a horrendous car crash.

However, DC’s beginning to the new season did not get off to a good start as they lost their opening tie against Lucknow Super Giants. As they look forward to lift the elusive IPL trophy for their maiden title, David Warner and Co. will have a lot to address.

Meanwhile, after the loss, David Warner who had scored a half-century was asked about his feeling to play in front of home crowd next season. He responded by saying that it will be great home coming for him as the last time he played there was in 2011 and he looked forward to shine in a Batting track.
“We go back to Delhi in front of our home crowd. I know it’s a batting wicket. The last time, I was there in Delhi back in 2011, it was low and slow. Now I saw a bit of green grass on that surface.”
Sunil Gavaskar joined the chat and he said that the last time he played in Delhi was just a few months ago during the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy where India won by 2-1. “David last time you were there in Delhi in 2011-12? You were there last month!”
To that Warner said – “Yeah, I know that. That was a different pitch, it was a red ball. Let’s forget that.”
