The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is back and will be inaugurated on the 31st of March. However, like last year, the BCCI has chosen to keep with the same policy of covid. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has drawn the line of 7 days for the players who test positive for covid. Players who test positive won’t be permitted to take part in a match or in training until they test negative, according to the IPL, which stated that the move was made to be “careful.”
The Indian Premier League has decided to follow its 2022 policy of requiring players with the virus to go through a week-long isolation period before rejoining their teams, despite the fact that sporting authorities around the world have been allowing athletes to compete despite testing positive for Covid-19 over the past year. For the first time in 126 days, India reported over 800 new COVID-19 cases in a single day on March 18. Also, there are now 5,389 instances that are still open.
Players who test positive won’t be permitted to take part in a match or in training until they test negative, according to the IPL, which stated that the move was made to be “careful.” The bio-secure bubble that has existed for the past three years during the epidemic will not be used for the 2023 season.
According to the medical guidelines for the IPL, which were just made available to franchises, positive cases must be kept to themselves for no longer than seven days. Positive cases won’t be allowed to participate in any games, activities, or events while they’re in isolation. As soon as they have been symptom-free for 24 hours, commencing on day five after recovery, they are eligible to have an RT-PCR test.
“They can have an RT-PCR starting on day five, but they must have been asymptomatic for 24 hours without taking any medication. If the first test is negative, the second test must be performed two days later. If a person continues to test positive after day seven, they must submit two negative tests that are separated by 12 hours in order to rejoin the group.
