IPL 2023 : GT seamer Mohit Sharma speaks about being the team’s net bowler in 2022! Says “Ghar baithke kya karta”

In another nail-biting match at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Thursday, defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) to get back on top after losing a final-ball thriller to former champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Senior fast bowler Mohit Sharma made his Gujarat Titans debut in a game where power hitter Rahul Tewatia guided Pandya’s team to an emphatic victory.

Before making his GT debut, Mohit last appeared in an IPL game for the Delhi Capitals in 2020. He was a member of MS Dhoni’s World Cup team in the 2015 season of the ICC competition. Pacer Mohit made a remarkable comeback to IPL cricket in game 18 of the league stage at Mohali, posting outstanding figures of 2/18 to aid Gujarat Titans in limiting the visitors to a subpar score.

The penultimate over of Punjab’s innings was bowled by the Indian pace bowler, who barely allowed six runs to escape.

“There was excitement, but also nervousness about making a comeback after a few years. Have played domestic cricket in between. Last year I played domestic returning from a back surgery.” – said Mohit Sharma

In an interview with the IPL 2023’s official broadcaster, GT star Mohit discussed his ideal comeback to the biggest event in domestic cricket. Ashish Nehra, the head coach of GT, was also thanked by Pacer Mohit for helping him plan his comeback this year. The veteran fast bowler, who last season also served as a net bowler for Gujarat Titans, was up for bid by Nehra’s GT side.

Not many people knew I played domestic. Got a call from Ashu Pa to stay with the team. (Mujhe laga ghar baithkey bhi kya karunga) I thought it would be better than staying at home (about being a net bowler for GT last year). – Sharma concluded.
