IPL 2021: Shreyas Iyer to continue Delhi Capitals captaincy in the season

The countdown for the 14th edition of the most awaited T20 tournament in the world has begun now as some of the franchises have started their preparation whereas the franchise like Delhi Capitals has launched a new jersey to add the new flair in the competition.

Delhi Capitals who finished last in the recently concluded season of IPL will be continuing with Shreyas Iyer as the skipper of the side for the upcoming mega event.

Australian ace player Steven Smith will play the role of mentor for Delhi Capitals and his inputs along with Rahane will be valuable to Iyer during the crunch phase of the game.

As per the latest Tweet released which quoted the statement of Delhi Captails CEO which stated that “Delhi Capitals’ CEO confirms that Shreyas Iyer will continue to lead the Capitals in IPL 2021, Steven Smith to play as a mentor. (To TOI),”.

The Franchise has purchased 8 more players in their kitty in order to strengthen their squad for the upcoming IPL 2021. The biggest buy for them was Tom Curran for the whopping amount of INR 5.25 crore followed by Steve Smith for INR 2.2 crore and Sam Billings for INR 2 crore.

Delhi Capitals will be certainly looking to replicate the same performance that they had in IPL 2020 in the upcoming mega event and with the depth, in their lineup of Indian and overseas players they will be certainly one of the most favorites contenders to lift the title.
