IPL 2020, MI VS RR: Mumbai set sights on top spot as Rajasthan look to bounce back

Mumbai Indians will take on Rajasthan Royals at Sheikh Zayed Stadium Abu Dhabi. After contrasting starts MI found themselves in the top half and Royals in the bottom half of the table. Mumbai Indians have picked the pace and have won three games out of five. Royals on other hand are on a two-match losing streak and although have played one less match find themselves at 5th position.

Both teams would like to win the match to get a move on in the tournament. Mumbai Indians were exceptional against SRH at small Sharjah ground and defended 200+ score with considerable ease. MI batted first and with healthy contributions down the order reached 208 which included a 4 ball 20 cameo from Krunal Pandya. MI bowlers were always in control and once Warner was dismissed the writing was on the wall. Rohit would like to see some level of consistency in coming games.

Royals on the other hand have struggled in the last two games and batsman have not able to express themselves. Steven Smith and Samson had been quiet in the last two games and that has been reflecting on their performances. Butler has not yet got going and Royals would hope that he comes to the party against Mi as he is one player who can hit any make any attack look ordinary.

Royals would hope for more runs from Uthappa and Parag so that if Samson fails again they can take a team to a fighting score. Royals bowling has depended a lot on Archer and he has not disappointed but he needs adequate support from other bowlers as well. Unadkat, Gopal, Tewatia, Curran has to step up their game and took wickets to put pressure on the opposition.

Royals have to play out of their skins to compete with Mumbai team. Pandya, Pollard can score 60-80 runs in last 4-5 overs so Royals have to execute their bowling plans and hope that they play a near-complete game to have any chances of defeating their opponents. Royals have some batting & bowling issues whereas Mumbai Indians look covered in every department so start the match as favourites.
