India is ready to travel Sri Lanka for closed-door matches at the end of July for six matches limited series provided government give clearance to them.
“Its all depending on government directives about lockdown relaxations and travel restrictions and we are open to travel if it does not hamper the health of our boys” Treasurer Arun Dhumal said.
BCCI is considering this at the moment as they have received a letter from SLC (Sri Lankan Board) offering India to host in a closed-door match for a six-match tour( 3 ODI, 3 T20s) in July end if they were ready to follow quarantine rules.
Can we say it will embark the beginning of team India after lockdown? That will be a far fetch thing at the moment to predict as it all depends on the situation and government guidelines.
As the majority of Indian players who live in metro cities are not able to keep their fitness in check as having less space to run. Also why Sri Lanka wants to host India as they have no media rights holders and is looking to attract broadcasters through Indian tour.
“If the BCCI is saying they are ready to tour, that’s just smokescreen. They are telling Sri Lanka, we are willing to honor bilateral commitments,” a source tracking developments says. However considering the timelines it appears that the series can be pulled off at such short notice.
