Australia’s left-arm Off-spinner Matthew Kuhnemann who made his senior Test debut in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar trophy 2023 series at the Indian soil received his fan moment right after the last Test came to an end at Ahmedabad.
The 26-year-old had a debut Test series to remember as he removed some of the biggest names in the Indian batting line-up and formed up an efficient trio of Aussie spinners alongside Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy. He was one of major reasons behind the Baggy Greens’ terrific comeback in the 3rd Test at Indore.
How many revolutions can you get on the ball!?
Check how the seam doesn't move off of course. Great delivery from Matt Kuhnemann

Apparently, Kuhnemann has been a long time admirer of India’s ace All-rounder and BGT 2023’s joint Man of the series Ravindra Jadea. The Aussie off-spinner is also known as the “Australian Jaddu” (Aussie version of Ravindra Jadeja) – a name which was given by Kuhnemann’s Queensland team mates in 2021 in the Australian domestic circuit after his match winning performance against South Australia in Sheffield Shield.

After Kuhnemann’s debut at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, the 26-year-old who is a die hard fan of Jadeja had asked the Indian All-rounder for some tips which can help improve his game at the highest level. In response, Jaddu promised that he will conversate with Kuhnemann after the BGT ends and the 34-year-old kept his promise.

Both of them were seen having a 15-minute chat after Day 5 came out with no result. In his own words, Kuhnemann stated that Jadeja gave him some amazing tips and Jadeja told him about everything in the sub-continent region. He credited Nathan Lyon for setting up the conversation and Kuhnemann is thoroughly satisfied with the tips as he will fly back to Australia.

“It was probably about 15 minutes, he was just giving me some awesome tips we talked about everything. Nathan Lyon helped organised it as well. He was really impressed with Todd and โGazโ (Lyon) and myself so that was really cool to hear that from him. He gave me some good tips for the next time weโre in the subcontinent and some tips to go back home with as well.”ย
Matt Kuhnemann ended a whirlwind debut Test tour by picking the brains of Ravindra Jadeja, the superstar Indian spinner who his Queensland teammates nicknamed him after.@ollycaffrey caught up with Kuhnemann and discussed their exchange. https://t.co/igemkkqevo
