Iga Swiatek, the top seed, was up against a fiery and unseeded Karolina Muchova, who came into this final by beating the number 2 seed, Aryna Sabalenka. This match was also not one-sided, as Muchova did not let Swiatek go easy on even a single point.
It was the first time this season that Swiatek lost a set and was forced to play a third one to claim the title. The scoreline after the match read as 6-2, 5-7, and 6-4 in favour of the Polish star, Iga Swiatek.
The first set was comparatively easy for Swiatek, as she dominated Muchova completely. She was 3-0 up against Muchova, but Muchova made a little comeback by making it 3-1. Swiatek then did not spare her and grabbed the set 6-2 without even dropping a sweat.
Karolina Muchova, playing in her first Grand Slam final, took a little time to settle her nerves down and made a roaring comeback in the second set, which she took away from Swiatek by winning 7 games to 5.
Muchova fought hard in the third set too, but Swiatek managed to break her serve and clinch the set 6-4, along with the title of French champion.
Although Swiatek is the number one player, Karolina Muchova played really well and tried her best, but the nervousness of a big final got to her, as she looked disturbed at times during the match. Nevertheless, it was a great match between these two tennis sensations and was worthy of a final.
Iga Swiatek, just 22 years old, has four Grand Slams already in her cabinet and is going to go big in the coming years.
