The Indian Women’s Football Team Created history, after they qualified for Women’s Asia Cup and credit should be given to Entire team for bringing world class football on the table.
They have already sealed the spot in 2026 AFC Women’s Asia Cup and their next mission is to play 2027 Women’s Asia Cup.
The Blue Tigress defeated Thailand by 2-1 in order to book spot, next year Women’s Asia Cup which is set to be held in Australia.
The Biggest Question arises whether India would qualify for FIFA Women’s World Cup is shared in the below format:
1. India as one of the 12 nations participating in AFC Asian Cup 2026 where 12 nations will be drawn into group of Four, with each team playing single round robin. All these teams who will finish as Winner, Runner up and and 3rd place team will advance towards quarterfinals.
2. The moment Quarterfinals begins so the team which would be winning that round will directly qualify for the spot in 2027 Women’s World Cup. The Losers in the quarterfinals will compete in play-ins format against each other, where the winner will join the winners of Quarterfinal.
3. The losers in the play-ins format will once again get a chance to qualify through Inter consideration Playoffs format.
Overall format, would be key for them but if India manages to somehow qualify for the FIFA 2027 World Cup it will be perfect testament in itself, as Indian men’s team of late have seen huge dip in performances thus substantially decreasing their rankings.
In that worst case scenario, if Indian Women’s Football team manages to qualify for FIFA World Cup it will be perfect story of redemption for them.
Coach Crispin Chhetri should also be given equal credit for transforming the mindset of entire team in order to extract best results out of them.
AIFF management have been in headlines for wrong reasons, where the focusing entirely have been on keeping their managerial position intact rather than focusing on player development and robust system so that they can allow grassroot players to flourish.
