Delhi Capitals Assistant Coach Mohammad Kaif on Monday said that his team focus will be on chasing targets well in the second half of the league stage as on most occasions they have successfully defended targets in the ongoing edition of IPL 2020. As Capitals is sitting currently at the top of the points table with seven wins from nine matches they have played so far and out of the two matches that they have lost one came while chasing against Sun Risers Hyderabad in Dubai.

Kaif said that his team has to show more consistency when it comes to chasing targets in crunch situations and that’s the area where
we need to work as a side.

“To win a tournament like IPL, you have to be all-round performers. If you bat first, you have to put runs on the board, which we have been doing in this tournament. But if you bat second, you should be able to chase down the target,” he said.

“That’s the strength of the team and we want to achieve that kind of target you know, so that when we are put in to bowl first and chase a target, we should be able to do it.” Kaif added.

He also heaped praise on Shikhar Dhawan who scored his maiden IPL century to register a successful run chase against mighty Chennai Super Kings. With the way Capitals is playing in IPL 2020 they are definitely looking favorites to clinch their maiden IPL title. The credit should be given to their coaching staff, players and most importantly their skipper Shreyas Iyer who has been lauded from cricket experts for the bowling changes and field rotation during crucial moments for Capitals.
