English fast-bowler, Harry Gurney will miss out on the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast and the Indian Premier League 2020 owing to a shoulder injury. Gurney is quite devastated after suffering from the injury and will undergo surgery next month. Taking to ESPN CricInfo, Harry Gurney confirmed his unavailability in both Vitality T20 Blast and IPL 2020.
“Having gone through the same frustrations as everyone this year in waiting for cricket to restart, I’m devastated to have to miss the Blast,“ Gurney said.
“Some of the proudest moments in my career have been with Notts, and nothing quite compares to being out on the field at Trent Bridge competing for trophies with some of my best mates. To have that taken away for a year is tough.” he added
Nottinghamshire head coach too is quite disappointed as Gurney is counted amongst the most experienced cricketers in the squad.
“Harry would improve any T20 side in the world, so it’s a blow to lose him for this year’s tournament,” he said. “With the experience and expertise he’s gained from a global white-ball career, he’s become a real leader in our limited-overs dressing room.“
Harry Gurney has been exhibited exceptional performances for last three seasons in Vitality T20 Blast. He was the second-highest wicket-taker last season, having picked 22 wickets in 12 games at an average of 17.95.
Gurney led the pace attack for KKR last season. He played 8 matches for the side and was one of the most experienced campaigners in the squad. Given that his bowling would have suited well in the UAE conditions, Gurney’s injury could prove to be a real blow for KKR.
Missing out in both the tournaments might make his inclusion in England’s T20 World Cup squad all the more difficult. Nevertheless, the English fast-bowler would be hoping to recover as soon as possible and get back to the ground.
