Hardik Pandya, the captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) has been fined Rs 30 lakhs and banned for one match. MI’s season has ended in IPL 2024, which means that Hardik will miss the first match for Mumbai in the IPL 2025. This ban came after his team maintained a slow over rate during MI vs LSG (Lucknow Super Giants) clash at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday.
The IPL 2024 campaign for the 5-time champion ended on a bitter note at their home ground. Not only their season has ended but also they have finished at the bottom of the points table. MI’s ended with a 18-run loss against Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The IPL 2024 was a forgetful season for the Mumbai Indians, out of 14 league stage matches they managed to win only 4 matches. They had only 8 points under their belt.
Hardik Pandya received this one-match suspension as this was the third time that MI was found guilty of the slow-over rate offense. This suspension means that Pandya is set to miss the first match for MI in IPL 2025. However, in any case, if Hardik moves to any other franchise in the IPL 2025, the all-rounder has to sit out for the opening game.

The slow over-rate not only deducted the money of the team’s captain but the Impact Player and the other members of the playing XI were each fined INR 12 lakhs or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever was lower.
A statement by IPL read, “As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to a minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined INR 30 lakh and banned from playing the team’s next match.”
“The rest of the members of the playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either Rs 12 lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees,” the IPL statement read.”
