Football stars bid adieu to NBA legend Kobe Bryant

The NBA legend and basketball icon, Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas which included his 13-year-old daughter along with other 6 people. The father-daughter duo were going to Mamba Academy in Thousand Oaks for a practice session.

Kobe Bryant was photographed along with his daughter in the game where Philadelphia 76ers defeated Los Angeles Lakers. The game also saw LeBron James surpassing Bryant to become the third-highest scorer in NBA history.

Soon after the mishap, the footballing fraternity was shocked and the star players responded as below;

Barcelona star Messi, writing on his official Instagram account, said:

“I have no words… all my love for Kobe’s family and friends.

“It was a pleasure to meet you and share good times together. You were a genius like few others.”

On the other hand, Messi’s companion, Cristiano Ronaldo took his Twitter account to mention his condolences;

 “So sad to hear the heartbreaking news of the deaths of Kobe and his daughter Gianna. Kobe was a true legend and inspiration to so many. 

“Sending my condolences to his family and friends and the families of all who lost their lives in the crash. RIP Legend.”

In a similar fashion, Romelu Lukaku also posted a heartfelt post which read;

“My biggest sports idol is this man right here. Your work ethic and mentality inspired me so much from as soon i understood what it took to become a pro. 

“You were enjoying your new chapter in your life and to leave us just like that is devastating.. i love you so much! You the goat.”

Liverpool talisman Virgil van Dijk said:

Luiz Suarez also sent his condolences to the player’s family;

“Rest in peace KOBE BRYANT and all the victims who have passed away in that tragic accident and give all my condolences to family and friends,” 

Manchester United stars, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba also took on their views on the player’s death;

“Heroes come and go, Legends are forever. 

“R.i.P. Kobe and his daughter Gianna and all the victims my prayers to the families #blackmambaforever.”

The player with World record transfer fee, Neymar Jr paid tribute on the field itself after scoring a goal;

I went to see the messages on social media at half-time, I saw that Kobe is dead. It is a great sadness for the world of sport, and for all of us. 

“Not just for basketball fans, but also for everything he did for sport. I knew him and I did this celebration to pay tribute to him. And I hope he will rest in peace.”
