After the first-quarter the score was in favor of England and in the following quarter too, the story remained the same. The Three Lions were all over Wales since the start of the 2nd 15-minute quarter.
England won a penalty corner which was somehow defended by Wales just outside their D. Wales had their chances too but lack of players in the final third saw them failing to equalize the score-line.
However, England made it even more difficult for their opposition as they doubled their lead in through consecutive Penalty corners. This time it was Liam Ansell was on target as he made it 2-0 by half-hour mark.
Quarter number 3 brought another goal as England’s outstanding Penalty corner tactic saw Sam Ward triple the Three Lions’ lead. Phil Ropher scored another goal minutes later to make it 4-0.
By the end of the final quarter of the match, England were able to put past 5 goals to kick their FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 in style.
