Pakistan lost it’s home series against New Zealand after, the Black caps defeated Men in green in the third and final ODI of the series. This was a huge blow to Pakistan as they lost the series to Kiwi’s after 46 years at home. Now, the poor performance from this side is leading to effect the captaincy of Babar Azam as Babar’s replacement as the ODI and Test skipper is being considered by the PCB.
Babar became the captain of the Pakistan team in November 2020 replacing. He took the charge after Mohammad Hafeez. In October and November 2020, Babar Azam’s maiden ODI series as captain was against Zimbabwe. Although Azam scored a century in the last match, Pakistan lost despite defeating Zimbabwe in the first two games. After that, Pakistan played a three-match ODI series in South Africa. With 228 runs scored by him, Azam led the Pakistani team to a 2-1 series victory.
If compared from 2020 to now, the graph of Babar’s captaincy have gone much below at present time and now losing matches and series at home has become a topic of huge concern because of which, pakistan cricket board and the management has to think of his replacement as a skipper. It is believed to have Shan Masood as the replacement of Babar for the captaincy in two of the three formats.
Babar’ graph might have gone below as a captain but, his individual batting performanes are still magnificent and outstanding. He is maintaining a good consistency as a batter and scoring in most of the matches. In the last series played with New Zealand, Babar scored two-fifties in 3 matches.
