Talking about the latest development, Union Health Ministry through its Director General of Health Services(DGHS) have asked Indian Premier League organizers to stop displaying ads related to Tobacco and alcohol which will also involve surrogate promotions, within stadium premises during matches and telecast on National Television.
The order comes ahead of the start of marque event, through letter send by DGHS to IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal urged no sale of tobacco and alcohol inside stadium premises inside the stadium and all affiliated sports facilities.
“Discourage Promotion of Sports Sportspersons, including commentators, who directly or indirectly endorse products linked to alcohol and tobacco” content inside the latter stated by DGHS to IPL organizers.
Its not the first DGHS reminded IPL organizers to discourage cricketers from advertising any product which is related to alcohol and tobacco.
According to DGHS Goel, discouraging players to avoid surrogate advertising of tobacco and alcohol related products would help in spreading message among public where they can avoid consumption of these products among the youngsters.
Sportsperson are the correct brand ambassador of any country, any message given by them is taken seriously among people.

My Perspective:
When we talk about IPL next edition, players like Shreyas Iyer will be leading Punjab Kings for next edition, Ajinkya Rahane will lead KKR, Rishabh Pant will be leading Lucknow Super Giants, Kl Rahul most probably will lead Delhi Capitals.
It would be interesting to see how these leaders lead distinct franchise, in the upcoming season.
