Stokes’ catch made him the 32nd player in the history of Test cricket to achieve this feat. Catching is always a difficult job to do in cricket, although it is one of the most important aspects of the game. With his catch, Stokes joined an elite trio of players with 6000+ runs, 100+ wickets, and 100+ catches in test matches.
The two players in this category were Sir Garfield Sobers and Jacques Kallis, but Ben Stokes also joined them yesterday with his excellent catch. These three players are the best all-rounders ever to play the test-match format of cricket.

Garry Sobers (West Indies)
Sir Garfield Sobers, one of the greatest players in the history of West Indian cricket and the first player ever to hit six sixes in an over, was the first player to achieve this remarkable feat in test cricket. Garry Sobers has more than 8,000 runs in test cricket, over 230 wickets, and 109 catches.
Jacques Kallis (South Africa)
Kallis, who is the best all-rounder in the history of South African cricket, is also on this list. Kallis has more than 13,000 runs to his name in test cricket, along with close to 300 wickets and 200 catches. During his career, Jacques Kallis was his team’s most valuable player.
Ben Stokes (England)
The recent addition to this list is Ben Stokes, who is known as the most clutch player of all time. His innings such as Headingley 2019, the 2019 World Cup Final, the 2022 World Cup Final, and many more remind us that Stokes is a generational talent. He has now scored over 6,000 runs, taken 197 wickets, and made 101 catches in tests.
