BCCI to conduct mega auction later this year for IPL 2022: Reports

What IPL is for cricket is similar to what UEFA Champions League is for football where top teams and players compete against each other.

IPL has certainly impacted Indian cricket in a positive way in the last 10-12 years especially the youngsters who are making their debut on the national side are used to performing in pressure-based situations in IPL and in front of huge crowds.

As the second season of IPL is all set to start from September 2021. It is reported that BCCI is looking to add two more teams in the cash-rich league increasing the tally to 10 for which mega auction is all set to take place at the end of this year.

However, IPL had 10 teams in the past back in 2011 but then it was reduced to 8 teams but with the addition of two more teams for next year, more players will get a chance to showcase their skills in the marquee event.

It is also understood that the salary purse amount will increase from INR 85 crore to INR 90 crore adding 50 crores to the total salary pool. It is mandatory for every franchisee to use 75% of the allotted money.

Talking about India’s International calendar their red-ball team will be locking horns against England for five-match Test series starting from August 4th, 2021 whereas Men in Blue will be competing against Sri Lanka in the island nation for three ODI and the same number of Test series.
