Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka series to be scheduled during IPL

Bangladesh’s series against Sri Lanka that had earlier been postponed due to coronavirus pandemic now has a ray of hope as it could be rescheduled in the month of October this year.

It is during the same time, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking to conduct the IPL in the UAE behind closed doors. However, the series will have no or minor impact on the cash-rich league as no player from Bangladesh has been selected in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League.

Sakib Al-Hasan had been banned by the ICC for two years, following corruption charges on him. He is currently serving the ban until October 2021. While Mustafizur who last played for Mumbai Indians was unsold during IPL 2020 auction.

And talking about the Sri Lankan cricketers, Lasith Malinga (Mumbai Indians) and all-rounder Isuru Udana (Royal Challengers Bangalore) are the only two Island. And chances are, Sri Lanka Cricket would seemingly give them the NOC to play in the cash-rich league.

Bangladesh was originally slated to tour Sri Lanka in July for the test series, but the governing bodies of both the nations mutually agreed to push the series to October this year. The Chief of Bangladesh Cricket Board Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that he is looking to work on the board’s schedule after the ICC postponed the T20 World Cup.

The ESPN CricInfo also confirmed that if three-match Test series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka could be a possibility this October, and only the final confirmation from both the cricket governing boards will be done in a few days.
