History

The Club was founded in 1898, the idea of the club came to the minds of two groups, Britain workers and Basque students.  In the early 19th century Bilbao was a major industrial city as many migrant workers, shipyard workers from Southampton, Portsmouth, Sunderland, and miners from North East England were attracted to it.

They all came together to form the club Bilbao Football Club. On the other hand the sons of Basque students went to Britain and pursued their studies and grew their interest in football. Later they started to play matches with the British workers.
