With the pressure mounting, Julián Álvarez and Alexis Mac Allister stepped up for Argentina, calmly converting their penalties. Argentina regained the lead in the shootout 2-0. Both teams traded goals until the final kick, where Nicolas Otamendi, who came on as a substitute, coolly slotted home the winning penalty.
