The second match of the ongoing T20 International series between the host USA cricket team and Bangladesh was played at the Prairie View Cricket Complex, Houston. In a big upset, America defeated Bangladesh for the second consecutive T20 match and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
Before the T20 World Cup, America has achieved a historic T20 series win against Bangladesh. For the first time, they have defeated a full time ICC member in a T20 series. Earlier in the year 2021-22, the series against Ireland was drawn 1-1.
The American cricket team created history
Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and invited USA to bat first. Batting first, America scored 144/6 in 20 overs, but in reply to the target, Bangladesh was all out for 138 runs and lost the match by 6 runs. USA also won the first match of the series by 5 wickets and has now captured the series by winning two consecutive matches.
The openers gave a good start to the host team who came to bat first. Steven Taylor and captain Monank Patel added 44 runs for the first wicket. Taylor played an important inning of 31 runs while Monank Patel made an important contribution of 42 runs. Andries Gous, who came to bat at number 3, returned to the pavilion on zero, while the heroes of the last match, Corey Anderson on 11 and Harmeet Singh were also out without opening the account.
Aaron Jones contributed in taking the USA team to the score of 144. He played an inning of 35 runs with the help of 3 fours and 1 six. For Bangladesh, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain took 2 wickets each.

Bangladesh had a poor start
Bangladesh had a very poor start while chasing the target of 145 runs. Opener Soumya Sarkar was out on the first ball while Tanzid Hasan returned to the pavilion early after scoring 19 runs. In the middle of the innings, captain Shanto scored 36, Towhid Hridoy 25 and Shakib Al Hasan scored 30 runs but after that all the batsmen scattered like cards and the entire team was reduced to 138 runs.
For America, Ali Khan took maximum 3 wickets while Saurabh Netrawalkar and Shadley Van took 2-2 wickets. Jasdeep Singh and Corey Anderson also got 1 success each.
