Five teams will battle it out for the championship in the future Women’s IPL 2023, which already has its dates and location announced.
With a massive INR 4,669 crore, five different franchises have purchased teams.
There are three facets of the commercial side of the Women’s IPL that no one has ever thoroughly explained to you. Let me elaborate on that for you:
1. Any business that purchases a franchise will be seeking for a return on their investment, which will only be based on the amount of spectators this competition attracts. In the past, the ICC T2O Women’s World Cup attracted 102 million viewers in total.
2. The high numbers in viewership will simply means engaging eyeballs and more footprints and if all these are aligned together under one roof it will drive financial aspect of WPL.
I am delighted and honoured to be joining the @mipaltan #OneFamily as Head coach .Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity 💙 #WPL #MumbaiIndians pic.twitter.com/Gg5WpbjajN

3.The main event will take place in Mumbai. The organisers are very positive that the arena will be completely filled if the flagship event is held there given how well-attended the previous series between India and Australia was.
Adani Sportsline, Royal Challengers Pvt Ltd, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Warriors, and Mumbai Indians are the five separate franchises in the Women’s Premier League.
The usual capped suspects front & centre and a huge pool of local talent who I think will be the key to team success in #WPL. The baffling/sad missing pieces though are associate players. Not sure if teams have done all their homework in their requesting. Feb 13 will reveal all. https://t.co/RAAjcTB6Bx

As 490 players compete for 90 available spots, each franchise will go head-to-head for the right to choose players for their roster.
Out of the 15 available spots, no more than 7 can be filled by foreign players, with the remaining 8 going to Indian players.
One of these seven positions was won by an associate member nation.
