Tokyo Olympics Gold Medalist and Paris Olympics Silver Medalist Neeraj Chopra who taught next generation of Indian players to dream big in Athletics, is in headlines again for wrong reasons in which Neeraj has nothing to do as the ace sportsman has always raised voice for Sportsmanship Spirit and representing country at biggest level as Brand ambassdor.
In other words, he is India’s biggest Sports Athlete produced ever considering he won medals in Olympics where more than 100 countries participate in distinct sporting discipline to win medals in three distinct domain- Gold, Silver and Bronze.
He is also known for “Man of Few words” as quietly goes around the business once any event is concluded he immediately goes into preparation zone , for next medal event that speaks volume about his greatness as an athlete.
Talking about the latest development, Athletic event is all set to be organized under his name in Bengaluru next month for which invite was extended to athletes all over the world including Pakistani Javelin thrower and Paris Olympics Gold Medalist, Arshad Nadeem with his record breaking throw of 92.97 metre.
However Nadeem refused Chopra’s invitation in other words, post Pahalgam deadly incident where innocent civilians were killed by Terrorist who are said to be connected with Pakistan.
With ripple effect, India and Pakistan gave 48 hours to all citizens residing in their high commission to leave country with immediate effect and all Visa issued to these two countries will be cancelled in short even someone from Pakistan who come in huge numbers for medical treatment in India will not be allowed to stay in Country.
India went one step ahead by closing water supply of Indus-Water treaty as Chopra extended invitation to Nadeem for the event as the marquee game was straight chance for athlete to make direct qualification in next world athletics championships.
Based on Neeraj Chopra latest post on social media, he stated that “His family along with him is subjected to Online abuse post inviting Nadeem for the marquee event which doesn’t seem justified, as my love for country is something that I didn’t need to prove and my thoughts and prayers are with family who lost their family members in this deadly Pahalgam incident and I m hoping that our country will take strict measure to combat terriorism and grant justice to all those who are involved in this matter”
Neeraj also went on step ahead and stated “It feels painful when my countrymen raise question on my integrity and whenever I represent India I do that with utmost sincerity and dedication which I will do again it’s sad to see people abusing my mother and the same media who lauded my Mother for the statement she gave a year back about Indo-Pak Sports athlete. I am deeply hurt but I will work harder to make sure India’s name keep shinning in the world of Athletics ”
Just in case you are not aware about the context of his mother statement post Javelin event in Paris 2024, Neeraj Mother Saroj Devi congratulated Arshad Nadeem fellow Pakistani athlete, for winning gold medal when asked by media isn’t see sad that Chopra couldn’t win gold medal to which she replied “Even Nadeem is like my son as Sportsmen have no boundaries we must respect each other and don’t allow politics to prevail in Sports”
However Nadeem denied his participation for Athletics event in Bengaluru, as he stated he will be preparing for Upcoming Asian Athletics Championships which will be held in South Korea.
However talking about yet another Indo-Pak Clash in Javelin, Neeraj Chopra and Arshad Nadeem will face off against each other in World Athletics Championships in Tokyo from September 13th to 21st 2025 respectively.
