Seems like controversies and Cricket in Pakistan have a special connection as both go hand in hand. Once again, Pakistan cricket is on the news and all over the headlines and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are yet again the catalyst. It all took place after PCB announced their squad for their upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan.
The Board decided to omit certain in-form big names from the team and handed debuts to quite a few youngsters who shone in the Pakistan Super League 2023. Players like Saim Ayub, Ihsan Ullah, Haseebullah Khan, Zaman Khan and Tayyab Tahir have been added to the squad against Afghanistan with Shadab Azam appointed as the Captain.

PCB have rested senior players like Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi, Harris Rauf and Mohammad Rizwan and former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif was not able to digest this development. Najam Sethi, PCB Chief is under a lot of speculation and Latif has joined the list of former cricketers criticizing the current system of the board.
Rashid Latif directed brutal verbal jabs at not just Najam Sethi but also PCB’s Chief Selector Haroon Rasheed and alleged them of playing with Pakistan’s balance and combination. Latif’s main concern was about a probable divide and rule system used by the PCB hierarchy.

“When you bring new players, you break a team combination. Some new players, who are selected, will perform in the Afghanistan series, so will they bring back the senior players back with lesser strike rate. Media will also put pressure on them. This is the first step towards destroying Pakistan team.”
