Welcome sight for Team Indian fans as senior bowler bowls in nets after injury

It was a welcome sight for Team India and fans as fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah joined the Indian side as they were training ahead of the second ODI against West Indies at the ACA-VDCA stadium in Vizag on Tuesday.

Bumrah, who has been the biggest match-winner with the ball ever since he rose up the ranks and start taking on the responsibility with the new ball for the national team, last played a game in August against the West Indies before he was sidelined with a stress fracture in his lower back. However, after months of recuperating, he is finally back and trained with the Men in Blue in the optional nets session.

The BCCI tweeted a photo of the star bowler, who was seen alongside Prithvi Shaw. The caption of the picture read, “Look who is here.” However, the seamer is not a part of the bowling line-up for the ODIs, and is unlikely to play before the series against New Zealand next month.

The decision to have Bumrah bowl in the nets was taken by the team management who wanted to check how his rehab was going and the progress that he had made. “You can’t really have a better test than having a go against the best in business. As you are aware, the team management has been very particular about injury management and that is why this process has been put in place,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by IANS.

Team India will be hosting Sri Lanka and Australia in January before they head to New Zealand for a full tour of two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is. Boom, as he is often called, is expected to be fit for the tour, with Hardik Pandya, yet another important member who too has been sidelined due to injury expected to comeback midway through the tour.
