Shubman Gill breaks Babar Azam's record for most runs after 26 ODI innings
Indian opener Shubman Gill broke Babar Azam's record for most runs after 26 ODI innings.
Gill scored 34 runs in the second ODI against West Indies, taking his tally to 530 runs.
Gill is now the third-fastest Indian batsman to reach 500 ODI runs, behind Virat Kohli (22 innings) and Rohit Sharma (24 innings).
The 22-year-old Gill has been in excellent form in ODI cricket in recent months scoring two centuries and four half-centuries in last 10 innings.
Gill's record-breaking innings came in a losing cause for India.
They were bowled out for 237 in the second ODI, with West Indies winning by five wickets.
Despite the loss, Gill's performance was a positive sign for India ahead of the T20 World Cup later this year.
