Marcelo, the former Real Madrid star, was sent off for a leg-breaking challenge on Luciano Sánchez

This was during Fluminense's Copa Libertadores match against Argentinos Juniors on 1st August

The incident occurred in the 57th minute of the match, when Marcelo attempted to dribble past Sánchez

However, he accidentally stepped on Sánchez's leg, causing the defender to suffer a compound fracture

Sánchez was immediately taken to the hospital, where he underwent surgery and expected to be out for at least six months.
