IND vs ENG: Devdutt Padikkal excels on Test debut and hits fifty in Dharamsala.

Padikkal went in to bat after centurion Shubman Gill was dismissed in the second session of Day 2.

He and Sarfaraz Khan combined for a 97-run stand to put India comfortably in control of their fifth and final Test against England.

Padikkal reached 50 runs in the 86th over, blasting Shoaib Bashir for six.

He hit ten boundaries and a single six on his way to a half-century.

In the fifth Test match against England, Padikkal started in place of the injured Rajat Patidar in the Indian lineup.

Test captain Ravichandran Ashwin, who just happened to play his 100th Test match for India, gave Padikkal his cap.

Padikkal has been performing admirably in the current Ranji Trophy.
